Aerial photo of Bandon 1980

Here's one of my earliest aerial pictures, at this stage just a faded, blurred snap of Bandon from the air photographed during a flying lesson from the Munster Aero Club on 29th June 1980 at around 4.30 in the afternoon - info thanks to my original pilot log book entry. At some point I'll search for the original film negative.
This picture shows no roof on the Cinema on Market Street so it must have been photographed following the fire.
I was only using a simple camera back then, given to me years earlier as a present but little did I know then that I'd still be aerial photographing 34 years later.
Daphne, my flying instructor at the time later presented me with of one of her robust GDR built Praktica cameras following my first solo. This was my first SLR camera and the rest as they say is history.

Update;
Daphne, my old friend and flying instructor died today,
may she rest in peace.

Bandon 1980 cinema fire no roof

This brings back memories of my first flight in a Cessna 150 Aerobat, 'Juliet Alpha' in April of the same year.. and I certainly won't forget that first 7am landing as the instructor demonstrated a short field approach ( well his version at least ).
For anyone who knows runway Three Five at Cork, we were still at 500ft passing over the threshold, then dived at the piano keys while almost vertical, still landing short of the club exit with no need to backtrack - so if he thought this might put me off the idea of flying then I think it's obvious at this stage that he was wrong.
