Galway Cathedral, Feb 2014

On a recent flight over Galway, the cathedral looked stunning with long
winter shadows yet giving a surprisingly spring like feel, probably due to the lush green grass along the river walks.
The aerial view shows clearly the cruciform outline of this impressive
structure.'Cathedral of Our Lady Assumed into Heaven and St Nicholas' is situated on the banks of the Corrib and was dedicated in 1965.
Designed by the architect John J. Robinson who was also the official
architect to the Eucharistic Congress of 1932 but died only a few
months before the dedication of the cathedral pictured here.
