Glin castle, ancestral home of the Knights of Glin is the focal point of a 500 acre demesne in West County Limerick, situated on the south bank of the Shannon Estuary. Dating back to Norman times when the Fitzgerald family were granted lands by the Earl of Desmond following Strongbow's Norman invasion in 1170 the Castle has more recently been open to visitors.
