Aerial photo of Russian Navy's Udaloy class destroyer Vice Admiral
Kulakov, making preparations to depart Cobh on the evening of 2nd
September 2012 following a courtesy visit to Cork Port. Courtesy calls prior to this were at Portsmouth and the Port of Lisbon.
The ship was commissioned in 1982 and was part of the northern fleet
based at Severomorsk but had been out of service from 1991 until 2011 when she finally rejoined the Northern Fleet following an extensive refit and modernisation.
Recent missions include anti piracy and commercial shipping protection
duties in the Gulf of Aden.
