Aerial photo of weather at
the Glen of Aherlow viewed to
Galtees and Knockmealdown mountains in the distance.

Flying into nasty weather along the Glen of Aherlow near Bansha, Tipperary with a view to the Galtee Mountains in the foreground and the Knockmealdown mountains in the distance.
Having experienced fair weather for most of the flight, a few CB's were forecastbut this was a bit more than we bargained for, only clipping the fringes was enough, got the job done and headed away as quickly as possible.
Downdrafts in mountainous areas are a particularly hazardous combination.
Rain showers and a low cloud base just add to the mix.
Dramatic results though.
