The aerial picture here was photographed last September ( 2015 ).
Before reaching Parteen, Castleconnell and Limerick to the south, the entire flow of the River Shannon must pass this narrow point at Killaloe & Ballina.
Killaloe in the foreground is in Co Clare and Ballina on the far bank is in Co Tipperary. Top left of this view is Lough Derg.
